Hello friends,
The time has come, at last, to finally share some big, big news that’s been brewing for a while now…
Regular readers of this newsletter will remember that, a few weeks ago, we shared the bittersweet news that we were going to be leaving Wilton’s Music Hall, and that our next two shows on July 2nd and 3rd would be our last at what has been our home venue for the past eight years.
Well, now it’s time to tell you where we’re moving to…
We’re thrilled to announce that the new home of OneTrackMinds will be Kings Place in King’s Cross.
Located just minutes walk from King’s Cross station, and just across the road from the bustling new developments at Granary Square, Kings Place (no apostrophe!) is an absolutely stunning multi-arts venue ‘with words and music at its heart’.
It’s the home of the London Podcast Festival. It’s where OneTrackMinds friend Deborah Frances-White hosts The Guilty Feminist. It hosts a bustling and energetic program of classical, jazz, folk and comedy events. In short, it’s the perfect home for us.

Hall One seats just under 400 people in a gorgeous, wood-panelled space, which feels grand and yet intimate at the same time. The sound reproduction is absolutely state of the art, and there’s also an incredible audio/visual recording set-up for when we finally get our act together and start filming the live shows…
It’s in a great part of town, which we really hope will prove to be a lot easier for most of you to get to, with an embarrassment of options in terms of pre-show dining (and shopping!) just across the road in Granary Square. And there’s a great bar onsite for us to enjoy our traditional post-show catch-ups with our guests and audience.
But what really clinched it for us was the fact that thanks to Kings Place’s programming policies, they’re able to offer us a regular, monthly show. So, after we launch with three shows this autumn/winter (and, assuming all goes well!), we’re going to be putting on the show at the same time every month, starting in January next year.
We’re so excited by this opportunity, and we really hope that a combination of the venue, the location and the regular show dates will really help us to build our audience.
We owe a huge debt of thanks to OneTrackMinds friend Josh McNorton for getting us set up there - if you’ve not signed up to his always-excellent newsletter Soundtracks To Adventure, then you really should.
Our first show at Kings Place will be on Thursday September 19th, with Thursday November 14th and Thursday December 12th to follow1. Tickets go on sale on Monday July 1st, when we hope we’ll have some confirmed guests to tell you about as well. You’ll be the first to know about it of course…
In the meantime, though, we’ve still the not-at-all-small matter of delivering our two final shows at Wilton's Music Hall on Tuesday July 2nd and Wednesday July 3rd. As you’ll know from last week’s newsletter (and, if you follow us on social media, our persistent if-not-quite-desperate posting on those channels), we have ten absolutely fantastic storytellers lined up for you…
Introducing Your July Storytellers
Hello Friends! I trust you’re all well. We’re just weeks away from our last (ever?) shows at Wilton’s Music Hall, and we’ve finally managed to wrangle a full lineup of storytellers for you. Consider today’s newsletter an introduction to ten new friends we can promise you’re going to love. So, without further ado…
… and we’d dearly love to bid farewell to Wilton’s with an amazing audience turn out as well.
Now, I’m not going to lie to you - ticket sales have not been good so far… If you haven’t booked your tickets yet, please let me urge you to do so! (And, as always, you can take advantage of our loyalty discount by using the code OTMCast at checkout to get the best seats in the house for just £11). And if you can’t make it to our next shows, but you know someone who might enjoy it, please tell them all about it…
Some other things we’ve been enjoying this week…
Our old friend Dylan Jones has a new book out - These Foolish Things is a memoir looking back at his somewhat remarkable career in journalism. It sounds right up our street.
What’s more, Dylan is joining forces with fellow-OneTrackMinds friend Rhik Samadder for an Evening Standard Masterclass called Life Writing and Memoir For Beginners. It takes place on Zoom on Monday July 15th. More details here.
The Biblioracle Recommends is one of my very favourite Substack newsletters, and yesterday’s essay on fandom made me feel very seen…
Ben Cardew in The Guardian asks “Is The Remix Dead?”
This looks interesting - a two-part documentary laying out the history of streaming, Napster, Spotify and the story behind How Music Became Free…
I’ve been enjoying The Guardian’s critics rundowns of the best culture of the year so far. It was thanks to their piece on the best TV shows of the year that I finally started watching How To With John Wilson on BBC iPlayer, and if you’ve not had the pleasure yourself just yet, let me urge you to cancel all plans and dive in with both feet. It’s genuinely one of the weirdest, funniest and most beautifully human TV shows I’ve ever seen. We’ve binged our way through the first two seasons in little over a week, and I bet you’ll do the same…
Right, that’ll do! Off to spend the rest of the afternoon aggressively posting on Instagram! We’ll see you next week…

Why no show in October, you may ask? That’s because we’ve got another very exciting something to tell you about next week…
This is super exciting!
