Hello friends! I trust you’re all very well. A very quick check in today, as it’s a busy week here at OneTrackMinds HQ. We’re excitedly looking forward to our first shows of the year, this Thursday and Friday at Wilton's Music Hall. We’re in the process of gathering audio files, writing scripts and pulling together our running orders for the two nights, and generally getting in to the groove of producing a show. Although our last shows weren’t that long ago, the Christmas break has knocked me off my stride a little, and it’s exciting to be getting back into the rhythm of it all again.
We’ve got two fantastic rosters of storytellers for you this week, and, although we don’t know exactly what they’re all going to be talking about just yet, the little snippets of information they’ve shared with us means that all the signs are pointing to these being two very entertaining shows, even by our own very high standards…
We’ve got a couple of old friends returning to Wilton’s - Rob Deering on Thursday night, Pauline Eyre on Friday - which always helps to steady the ship in terms of our expectations. But we also have some very exciting new storytellers too, and a very varied selection of song choices as well.
I hope we’ll see some of you there. If you’ve not booked your tickets yet, you can get a lovely big discount if you use the code OTMCast at checkout. This will let you buy top-price tickets (normally £18) for just £11, which is all very lovely.
Here’s a quick round up of some interesting things to share with you all:
Sophie Ellis-Bextor is back in the charts, thanks in no small part to the work of OneTrackMinds legend Polly Bennett. The massive streaming revival of 00’s pop-classic Murder On The Dancefloor comes after it soundtracked Barry Keoghan’s saucy naked gyrations through a fancy country house during the closing credits of Saltburn, choreographed by the genius Ms. Bennett. NYMag have a very enjoyable feature here.
If you were in our audience last year for Denise Gough’s fantastic tribute to Sinead O’Connor, you’ll appreciate this run down in The New York Times of 10 of her Essential Songs.
RIP legendary DJ Annie Nightingale. We tried to get her on the show a couple of times, but even though she was in her eighties, she was always too busy. Here’s a tribute to her fabulous career in The Guardian.
Photographer, screenwriter and OneTrackMinds storyteller Stephen Leslie has a new book out. Mostly False Reports is a collection of his amazing street photography, each image accompanied by a short story. You can buy a copy here, and an image from the book was featured in The Big Picture in this weekend’s Observer.
Don’t click on this link if you don’t want to feel horribly old. These classic albums are all turning 30 this year.
Right, that’ll do. Hope to see you at Wilton’s on Thursday and Friday! Until then, stay happy and healthy.

Good to be back in the groove. Go well this week. 👊
